RALEIGH, N.C. — A 19-year-old Raleigh man who was shot to death last weekend was laid to rest Saturday.

Funeral services for Traveon "Smurf" Antwane Hayes were held at Church of God of Prophecy, 1200 State St. in Raleigh, at 1 p.m. Viewing starts at noon.

There was a large turnout at a wake for Hayes at Chapell's Funeral Home in Garner Friday evening, family members said.

Hayes was shot multiple times while sitting in a car in an apartment complex parking lot in the 6500 block of Suburban Drive late April 17. Joshua Daiwan Simmons, 17, of 7115-1C Sandy Forks Road in Raleigh, was charged with murder in connection with Hayes' death.
