Stroller Strides is launching its Raleigh Running Mamas 5K and 10K training program spring season this week.

The program, now in its sixth season, starts Friday and offers race training specifically for moms. The program is designed for moms of any age or fitness level.

The program includes, among many other things, weekly training emails and guidance; personalized training plans; weekly educational clinics on everything from running form and injury prevention to choosing the right shoes; post-run sessions; and a group of supportive moms working towards the same goal (which, in my opinion, is so important).

Strollers are welcome, but not required. And dads also are welcome to join the program.

This spring season starts Friday (or Sunday for the weekend option). It runs through  April 27 for the 5K program or May 11 for 10K training. The programs culminate with the Run for our Heroes 5K in April and/or the Capital Classic 10K in May.

Sessions are held either Fridays at 9:30 a.m. at Raleigh's Pullen Park, a new venue for the group, or Sundays at 5 p.m. at Apex Community Park. Moms can attend Fridays, Sundays, or both, and complete one to two additional runs on their own time.
