Raleigh Residents Can Request Storm Debris Removal

Residents in storm-impacted areas have until May 4 to arrange for curbside storm debris collection. The debris will be collected on a resident's regular garbage, yard waste and recycling collection day.

To make the process more efficient:

Make certain only storm debris (tree branches) is included in the pile for collection.

Include no stumps.

Cut the debris into the smallest pieces possible.

Pile debris near but not in the street or gutter. Debris in the street is a safety hazard and may block storm sewers, causing flooding.

Place the storm debris away from overhanging tree limbs or low utility wires.

Keep debris piles away from hydrants, mailboxes, trees or other structures that might hinder collection.

Anyone needing storm debris removed after May 4 can use the city’s special-load pickup program offered at $50 per load or the regular yard waste collection service. Residents also can take the debris to the city’s Yard Waste Center, 900 N. New Hope Road, but the center’s tipping fee will not be waived.
