Raleigh police seek suspect in armed robbery spree

Around 2 a.m. Sunday, a man, armed with a handgun, approached a man and woman walking on the sidewalk after parking their car in the 4800 block of Pleasant Valley Road. He assaulted the man and stole the woman's purse before running away, police said.   

Less than 24 hours later, shortly before midnight Sunday, a woman leaving her vehicle in her apartment complex's parking lot on Furman Hall told police she was forced back into the vehicle by a man with a handgun and ordered to drive to an ATM and withdraw cash.  

He then dumped her near the Interstate 40/Wade Avenue interchange and took off in her vehicle, which was later found a short distance from her home. Several personal items had been taken, police said.

The next night, around 10:30 p.m. Monday, a woman was approached by a man with a handgun as she walked from her car to her home in the 1000 block of Collins Drive. When she screamed, her husband opened the door to investigate. The robber then forced her inside the home, held both victims at gunpoint and stole money and jewelry from them.

He then ordered them into their car and forced them to drive to an ATM and withdraw cash. He stole electronics from the home before demanding the couple get back in their vehicle a second time. They drove away again, but the suspect soon forced them out of the vehicle and took off with it. 

The vehicle was later found near their home. 

In each case, the suspect was described as a black man, standing about 6 feet tall with a medium build. In the first two robberies, he was wearing all black, including a motorcycle helmet with full-face shield, motorcycle-style jacket and gloves. 

In the third case, he was wearing all black except for an orange and yellow zip-up jacket with a turtleneck covering much of his face.
