Raleigh man missing, boat found

Raleigh police planned to spend Saturday night on and near Lake Wheeler searching for Darrell Kimble of Raleigh, who family members said went fishing Saturday morning.

RALEIGH, N.C. — Raleigh police planned to spend Saturday night on and near Lake Wheeler searching for a missing man.

Family members said Darrell Kimble of Raleigh went fishing on the lake Saturday morning. Authorities found his boat adrift on the lake near the intersection of Penny and Lake Wheeler roads.

By nightfall, there was no sign of Kimble other than a pair of shoes found along the lakeshore where he is believed to have entered the water. Officers will be on the lake and along the shore searching through the night, and Lake Wheeler will be closed to fishing and boats on Sunday, a police spokesman said.
