Raleigh man faces child abuse charge

A Raleigh man faces a misdemeanor child abuse charge for allegedly driving while impaired with a child in his vehicle, according to an arrest warrant.

RALEIGH, N.C. — A Raleigh man faces a misdemeanor child abuse charge for allegedly driving while impaired with a child in his vehicle, according to an arrest warrant.

The warrant states that Olvin Javier Garcia Amaya, 21, of 1011 Skyview Drive, was caught driving impaired in Raleigh Sunday while transporting his nephew, who is under age 16.

Amaya was placed in the Wake County jail under a $1,000 secured bond. His first court appearance was set for Sept. 16.
