Raleigh man charged with stealing money from church

RALEIGH, N.C. — A Raleigh man is accused of breaking into and stealing money from a church last month.

Michael Thomas, 40, of 5714 Osprey Cove Drive, is accused twice breaking into St. Marks United Methodist Church, 4801 Six Forks Road, on June 12 and June 26, according to arrest warrants. He stole $2,000 worth of checks and cash, the warrants state.

Thomas was charged with two counts of breaking into a place of worship and one count of larceny after breaking and entering.

Thomas was being held under a $40,000 bond at the Wake County jail on Friday. He is due in court on Monday.
