Raleigh man charged in Glenwood Ave. moped death

Raleigh police charged a driver with misdemeanor death by motor vehicle, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of marijuana for his role in the death of a moped rider Saturday night on Glenwood Avenue.

RALEIGH, N.C. — Raleigh police charged a driver with misdemeanor death by motor vehicle, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of marijuana for his role in the death of a moped rider Saturday night on Glenwood Avenue.

Police said Chun Evans, 30, of 1408 Crest Road in Raleigh, failed to slow down and struck a scooter driven by Atilio Vasquez-Vasquez, 22, in the 5400 block of Glenwood just before 11 p.m.

Vasquez died overnight.

Police said two women were in the vehicle with Evans at the time of the crash. Neither they nor he was injured.
