FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — A man wanted by police in connection with a shooting at a Fayetteville restaurant earlier this month was arrested Saturday night.

Terekus Derrell Rogers, 34, of the 3500 block of Torbay Drive in Raleigh was arrested at about 10:30 p.m. by members of the Fayetteville Police Department’s Violent Criminal Apprehension Team along with officers from the State Bureau of Investigation and Raleigh Police Department.

Rogers was charged with attempted first-degree murder, assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious bodily injury, discharging a weapon into occupied property causing serious bodily injury, robbery with a deadly weapon and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

The charges stem from a May 10 shooting at Smokey Bones restaurant at 1891 Skibo Road in which officers found Algeria Khalyid McNair, 21, of Fayetteville, with gunshot wounds to his face, neck and knee.

McNair, of the 6700 block of Winchester Street, was previously charged with trafficking opiates, possession with intent to manufacture, sell or deliver marijuana and maintaining a vehicle for keeping and selling a controlled substance in connection with the incident.
Authorities said they believe a drug deal gone wrong was the motive behind the shooting.

McNair is expected to be charged upon his release from UNC Hospital in Chapel Hill, authorities said.

Rogers was being held at the Cumberland County Detention Center without bond.
