BURLINGTON, N.C. — Burlington police charged a Raleigh man with sex and drug charges after observing him in suspicious behavior at a park.

An officer on patrol at Burlington's North Park Ball Field, on North Park Avenue, spotted a car without a license plate parked there at about 8:30 p.m. on Friday. He followed the car from the park and, upon stopping the vehicle, found the driver, a 59-year-old man, had a 14-year-old female passenger.

Detectives learned that the driver, Bryant Harrison Dennis, of 2719 Crestline Ave. in Raleigh, had traveled to Burlington to see the girl after meeting her in an online chat room.

Dennis was charged with statutory Sex Offense, indecent liberties, contributing to the delinquency of a minor, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

He was being held Saturday in the Alamance County Jail under a $10,000 secured bond.
