Raleigh man accused of trying to steal copper

A Raleigh man is accused of trying to steal copper from the North Carolina Department of Correction.

RALEIGH, N.C. — A Raleigh man is accused of trying to steal copper from the North Carolina Department of Correction.

Richard Steven Johnson, 52, of 220 Snow Ave., was charged with two counts of possession of stolen property.

State capitol police officials said they found Johnson on Friday outside the department's storage yard on Hodges Road attempting to steal $2,500 worth of copper pipe and wiring.
