RALEIGH, N.C. — Police and fire investigators are now looking at a fire that ripped through a nearly $1 million house early Wednesday as possible arson.

Raleigh Division Fire Chief Rusty Styons said investigators found “possible accelerants” in the remains of the house at 1419 Nottingham Road.

Samples have been sent to the State Bureau of Investigation's crime lab for testing, Styons said.

Styons said that because there was no power going into the house, investigators became “immediately suspicious” that it could be arson.

It will be several days before investigators get those test results back, he said.

Officials said the house was under contract for nearly $900,000. No one was inside and there were no reports of injuries.
