Raleigh girl hit by car while waiting for bus

A 15-year-old Southeast Raleigh High School student was transported to Wake Med about 7 a.m. Tuesday morning after being hit by a vehicle on Garner Road near Chris Street, authorities said.

A 15-year-old Southeast Raleigh High School student was transported to WakeMed about 7 a.m. Tuesday after being hit by a vehicle on Garner Road near Chris Street, authorities said. 

According to an initial investigation, Raleigh police believe Tavia Jay Moore was waiting for a school bus near the intersection. When a bus transporting children to Athens Drive High School arrived, Moore mistakenly crossed the street. 

As she attempted to go back across the road, she was hit by a car traveling north on Garner Road, police said. 

Moore's injuries were non-life threatening. A Raleigh police spokesman said no charges have been filed in the ongoing investigation.
