Posted — UpdatedFirefighters were alerted to the blaze, at the Shell station on Glenwood Avenue in Raleigh at Duraleigh Road, at about 4 p.m.
"A bystander actually came to the fire station and told us that they had a fire at the convenience store. So we quickly got on the engine and responded and got here in a matter of seconds. It's right down the street," said Raleigh Fire Department Chief Ronny Mizell.
Smoke filled the air and the intersection, and the 6700 block of Glenwood between Duraleigh and Pleasant Valley Road was closed in both directions.
The fire actually started in an outbuilding then spread to the attic of the convenience store, Mizell said.
No injuries were reported in the blaze.
