CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A Raleigh doctor pleaded guilty Monday to illegal sexually activity, according U.S. Attorney Gretchen C.F. Shappert.

Before U.S. Magistrate Carl Horn in the Western District, Kenneth S. Friedman, 55, pleaded guilty to knowingly persuading, inducing and enticing an individual to travel in interstate commerce from the Western District of North Carolina to Las Vegas to engage in prostitution.

Friedman faces a maximum penalty of five years in jail or a $250,000 fine, or both.

He was released on a $25,000 bond Monday. His sentencing date has no been set.

Friedman is one of several people accused of being clients of a Charlotte-based prostitution ring. Investigators said the accused ring-leaders, Sallie and Donald Saxon, had wealthy clients in Charlotte and Raleigh.

Legal documents show some clients paid as much as $4,000.
