RAEFORD, N.C. — The Hoke County Sheriff's Office arrested a Raeford man last Wednesday on charges of first-degree kidnapping and second-degree rape.

Vinson Maurice Grace, 37, told the victim she could pick up an item from his residence at 596 Thomas Drive, but when she arrived, he sexually assaulted her, investigators said.

Grace was being held Monday at the Hoke County Jail under a $100,000 bond.

According to state Department of Correction records, Grace served nearly 4 years in the early 1990s after being convicted of a string of charges, including assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury, burning a public building and conspiracy to discharge a firearm into property.
