Questions surrounding disappearance of Robeson woman grow

As local and federal authorities continue to search for an 18-year-old woman who disappeared seven weeks ago, questions about the case mount.

LUMBERTON, N.C. — As local and federal authorities continue to search for an 18-year-old woman who disappeared seven weeks ago, questions about the case mount.

Sara Nicole Graham left her home in Fairmount on Feb. 4 for work at a Walmart in Pembroke, but she never arrived. Her car was later found abandoned in a field.

Graham had been living with her father and stepmother, both Robeson County deputies. But Sheriff Ken Sealey said Friday that her stepmother, Connie Graham, was fired on March 18.

Sealey declined elaborate, calling it a personnel decision. The Robeson County Sheriff's Office said the move was unrelated to Sara Graham's disappearance.

Sources close to the investigation told WRAL News, however, that the FBI, which joined the investigation early this month, considers Connie Graham a suspect in the case, adding that an arrest may be made and charges filed soon.

The sheriff also said he couldn't release details of the investigation.

"I know citizens are eager to know more about our investigation. Please understand that publicly sharing specific details of our case could be harmful to the integrity of our investigation and would not be in the best interest of our efforts to find Sara," Sealey said in a statement. "Robeson County Sheriff’s Office detectives, in conjunction with the FBI, (are) working day and night on this case, and we won’t stop until we find her."

Sara Graham is described as Native American, about 5 foot 4 inches tall, about 160 pounds and has dark brown hair and brown eyes. She wears glasses and braces.
