Quail Ridge Books relocating to North Hills

The independent bookstore is currently located in the Ridgewood Shopping Center off of Wade Avenue in Raleigh.

"While we are sad to leave the Ridgewood neighborhood, we are also very excited to be moving to North Hills and for the opportunities our new location will offer. We won't be moving far away, and we hope that our customers will make the move with us. We have plans to open a beautiful new store while keeping the heart, soul and DNA of Quail Ridge Books alive and well at North Hills," owner Lisa Poole said in a press release.

Quail Ridge will move into a 7,530 square-foot space in the Lassiter District in spring 2016, according to Kane Realty Corporation.

Quail Ridge was founded by Nancy Olson in 1984. She sold the store to Poole in 2013.

"I'm so pleased that the Quail Ridge Books' tradition of quality books and great service will continue in an exciting new space. This is a great opportunity to grow the store's customer base of passionate readers," Olson said of the relocation plans.

Olson said she opened Quail Ridge because she couldn't find a bookstore she liked when she moved to Raleigh. The store has nurtured scores of North Carolina writers, including Lee Smith, Kaye Gibbons and Jill McCorkle, and attracted celebrities such as former President Jimmy Carter and radio host Garrison Keillor for book readings and signings.
