Puppy needs leg amputated, loving home after surgery
A 3-month-old puppy that was hit by a car and needed to have a leg amputated Tuesday is in need of a loving home, according to Wake County Animal Care & Control officials.

RALEIGH, N.C. — A 3-month-old puppy that was hit by a car and needed to have a leg amputated Tuesday is in need of a loving home, according to Wake County Animal Care & Control officials.
A citizen found Maggie, a mixed-breed dog, near U.S. Highway 64 a few days ago. Officials said they believe she was hit by a car. One of her legs was shattered and the other hind leg was injured, but should recover with therapy, officials said.
Animal Control officials said they planned to amputate one of Maggie's legs at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday.
"Following the surgery, Maggie will need a loving foster and/or adoptive home. If viewers would like to help, donations and adoption information is available on WakeGOV.com/pets or by calling 212-PETS," wrote Sarah Williamson-Baker, Wake County's public affairs manager.
