Puppy has leg amputated, receives 'outpouring of support'
Maggie, a 3-month-old puppy that was hit by a car and had one of her legs amputated Tuesday, is recovering well and has received an "outpouring of support," according to Wake County Animal Care, Control & Adoption officials.
Posted — Updated"She is not feeling up to eating yet, but the day is young. Dr. Stevens placed a new cast on the remaining hind leg. It seemed a bit more unstable this morning than before," wrote Director Michael Williams.
A citizen found Maggie, a mixed-breed dog, near U.S. Highway 64 a few days ago. Officials said they believe she was hit by a car. One of her legs was shattered and the other hind leg was injured, but should recover with therapy, officials said.
