DURHAM, N.C. — Durham County leaders have published a survey on the web to gather input about the recruitment of a new county manager. County Manager Mike Ruffin plans to retire on Jan. 31, 2014.

Cora Wilson, the county's human resources director, said the survey asks for public feedback on the qualities, skills and characteristics needed for the next county manager.

"In all that we do, we recognize and appreciate the importance of the input of our citizens," Wilson said in a news release Wednesday. "With that in mind, the survey has been designed so we can expediently gather responses that will assist the county with this significant recruitment decision."

Surveys are available online through Aug. 26, as well as in the first-floor lobby of the Durham County Administation Building, at 200 E. Main St., and at the front entrance of the Main Library, at 300 N. Roxboro St.
