I'm a big fan of the work they do over at Project Enlightenment, Wake County schools' early childhood intervention and education program. I thought I'd share their good news this week.
Project Enlightenment received a $2 million grant this week from the John Rex Endowment to help parents with young children in Raleigh improve parenting skills. According to a press release, Project Enlightenment will work with about 18 community agencies to train and provide Triple P - Positive Parenting Program, an internationally acclaimed program that is designed to give parents the skills they need to raise confident, healthy children.

“Let’s face it, parenting is a hard job!” said Audrey Bunch, director of Project Enlightenment, in a press release. “Entering the world of parenthood can be overwhelming, and the newborn, grandchild, or adopted child who comes into your life does not come with a set of parenting instructions.”

Project Enlightenment and the agencies they work with will offer the program to families they serve. The goal is to support parents, strengthen family bonds and get children ready for kindergarten and beyond.
