FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — A pregnant woman was critically injured in a five-car wreck Friday morning that closed Raeford Road in Fayetteville for more than an hour, police said.

Regina Laffea, 39, of Seabiscuit Road in Raeford, ran a red light at the intersection of Raeford and Skibo roads shortly after 9 a.m., and her 2001 Hyundai hit a 2009 Toyota that was turning right onto Raeford Road, police said.

The Hyundai then hit three other vehicles waiting at the light to turn left onto Raeford Road, police said. The Hyundai overturned after hitting those vehicles.

Laffea, who is seven months pregnant, and her 9-year-old son were taken to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center for treatment. She was listed in critical condition, and police said the boy was stable, although his condition was unknown.

No charges have been filed in the crash.

The outbound lanes of Raeford Road were closed until 10:25 a.m.
