RALEIGH, N.C. — Power has been restored at the Raleigh headquarters of the North Carolina Division of Motor Vehicles after an outage disrupted the agency's services statewide for two days.

DMV spokeswoman Marge Howell said Sunday that repairs have been completed at the headquarters building on New Bern Avenue and that the DMV will operate on a regular schedule Monday, opening at 8 a.m.

Howell said services such as routine license renewals and issuing license plates were unaffected by the outage but that more complex transactions might have been unavailable. Customers were urged to call their local DMV offices before visiting to be sure their needs could be met.

It's unclear what caused the outage, but Howell said permanent repairs were made to 1950s-era equipment protecting one of the main electrical cables supplying power to the building.
