Possible buyer for Harris Teeter stores?

It appears that Harris Teeter may have an interested buyer: Cerberus Capital Management. This is the same group that acquired multiple grocery chains this year including additional Albertsons locations, Jewel-Osco, Acme, Shaw's and Star Market. What will this mean for Harris Teeter shoppers if the deal goes through? It could mean no more reward card. Read on for more details.

It appears that Harris Teeter may have an interested buyer: Cerberus Capital Management. This is the same group that has already acquired multiple grocery chains this year including additional Albertsons locations, Jewel-Osco, Acme, Shaw’s and Star Market. What will this mean for Harris Teeter shoppers if the deal goes through? It could mean no more reward cards.

According to an article on couponsinthenews.com,  Cerberus has made a bid for Harris Teeter but no other details are available at this time.  During their recent acquisitions of other grocers, Cerberus has been getting rid of loyalty cards and lowering prices to make up for the reward savings shoppers previously received.  The article goes on to indicate that because Harris Teeter is a higher end store than many of their other chains, there is no telling what Cerberus would do if they did buy the company.

We will just have to wait and see what happens. In the meantime. I suggest using up your rainchecks (as others suggested on the blog today) and taking advantage of the great Super Doubles deals while we still can!
