FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — Fayetteville police on Saturday found the body of a 21-year-old man who was charged Friday in connection with a fatal shooting in the 4900 block of Rosehill Road.

Officers searching for Kenneth Jerome Hobbs Jr., of 767 Hedgelawn Way, found his body near the intersection of Rosehill Road and McArthur Drive. Investigators did not release any other information about Hobbs' death, but said his body would be sent to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Raleigh for an autopsy.

Hobbs was charged with first-degree murder Friday in connection with the death of 20-year-old Maurice Williams Jr.

Investigators said Williams was a passenger in a vehicle traveling east on Rosehill Road when Hobbs, also a passenger in the car, began shooting at about 8 p.m.

Williams was taken to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center, where he died. Aisha Maria Ferrin, 21, the driver of the car, was also injured in the shooting, but her injuries were not considered life-threatening, police said.

Hobbs jumped from the car and ran from the scene after the shooting. A fourth person inside the car, an unidentified man, was not injured, police said.

Investigators said all four people knew each other, but they did not release more information about what may have led to the shooting.

Anyone with information about the case should call the Fayetteville Police Department at 910-703-1166 or Crime Stoppers at 910-483-8477.
