RALEIGH, N.C. — Police released surveillance images Sunday in the armed robbery of a Subway restaurant earlier this week.

On Wednesday around 8:30 p.m., officers were called to the restaurant, at 1705 Lake Wheeler Road, after employees reported that an armed man came in and demanded money from the safe.

The employees, who don't have access to the safe, gave him an undisclosed amount of cash from the register, the store's owner said.

Police said the suspect was described as a black man in his 20s with a thin build who stands about 5 feet 6 inches tall. He was wearing a dark-colored shirt, light-colored shorts and what appeared to be a mask made from clothing.

He fled in a gray or light blue four-door sedan, possibly a Hyundai, police said.
