Police Seek Person of Interest in Shooting Death

Fayettteville police asked for the public's help in finding a man they want to talk to in connection with a shooting death on Monday.

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — Fayetteville police asked for the public's help in finding a man they want to question in connection with a shooting death on Wednesday.

Detectives named Gregory Tramaine McNeil, 21, a person of interest in the murder but did not call him a suspect. They have labeled the slaying a homicide.

On Wednesday, Bobby E. Clemmons, 23, whose last known address was 307 Campbell Ave., was left at the emergency entrance to Highsmith Rainey Hospital. Clemmons had been shot and later died of his injuries, police said.

The location where the shooting occurred had not yet been determined.

McNeil is also wanted by the U.S. Marshals for a home robbery. Crime Stoppers listed him in a Most Wanted ad in the Fayetteville Observer on Dec. 12.

McNeil was described as a black male with black, medium-length hair and brown eyes. He stands 5 feet 7 inches tall and weighs 160 pounds.

McNeil was released from jail in January 2005 after serving 20 months for common law robbery and second-degree burglary in Cumberland County.
