SANFORD, N.C. — A 34-year-old Sanford woman was charged early Thursday after authorities say she hit her boyfriend with a car following an early-morning argument.

Melissa Jean Creador, of 40 Uppergate Lane, is charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury.

Investigators said Creador and her boyfriend, David Wilson, got into an argument at about 1 a.m. Creador left the area following the argument, but returned to retrieve a pet and did not stop her vehicle after Wilson threw a bat toward it.

Creador left again but returned a short time later and hit Wilson, who was walking toward his home at 45 Uppergate Lane. Wilson was taken to UNC Hospitals, where he was listed in critical condition Thursday morning.

Creador was being held in the Lee County jail without bond.
