Police respond to reported hostage situation in southeast Raleigh

Raleigh police responded to a call Monday morning at about 9:30 a.m. in reference to a reported kidnapping and a related hostage situation in southeast Raleigh.

RALEIGH, N.C. — Raleigh police responded to a call Monday morning at about 9:30 a.m. in reference to a reported kidnapping and a related hostage situation in southeast Raleigh.

According to police, the initial response focused on a Days Inn hotel in the 3900 block of South Wilmington Street. An adult female told officers she had been held against her will and was assaulted before managing to break free and notify police.

The woman also said she believed a male, who was known to her, was being held hostage at a home near Rush Street, but the man was later found unharmed.

No other victims were known and police are continuing to investigate the incident.
