KNIGHTDALE, N.C. — A 17-year-old Knightdale teen was arrested Thursday and charged with robbing a State Employee's Credit Union on North Smithfield Road , police said.

Glenn Bernard Wilkins, of Aragon Drive, faces armed robbery charges.

Officers responded to the bank, off Knightdale Boulevard, about 11 a.m. No injuries were reported, and the bank was closed throughout the day Thursday.

An investigation led police officers to an address on Second Avenue in Knightdale, where Wilkins and a 15-year-old boy were taken into custody. An undisclosed amount of money was found at the home, police said.

Wilkins was taken to the Wake County jail and placed under a $200,000 bond, police said. The 15-year-old, whose name wasn't released, was held on a secure custody order.

“These arrests happened as quickly as they did because of citizen involvement," Chief Jason Godwin said. "We received a phone call about a man acting suspiciously near the credit union and were able to respond quickly. I can’t thank the people of Knightdale enough for speaking up when something doesn’t feel right. In this case, it led to two apprehensions within a couple of hours of the robbery.”
