DURHAM, N.C. — A man burned last week while trying to steal copper at a power substation has died from his injuries, police said.

Stanley Richardson, 49, of Durham, died Wednesday at UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill.

Officers were dispatched to the Duke Energy power substation, near Ashe Street and Hoover Road, at 9:48 a.m. Nov. 6. When they arrived, they found Richardson, who had been severely burned over much of his body.
