APEX, N.C. — A man phoned an Apex pharmacy Wednesday to demand prescription drugs, saying he was armed with a handgun, police said.

The pharmacist on duty at the Walgreens at 511 W. Williams St. placed the drugs in the store's drive-thru pickup slot at about 10:40 p.m., and the robber grabbed the drugs and left, police said.

The robber was described as a white man in his 30s, 40s or 50s, about 5 feet 11 inches tall, with a thin build and light facial hair. He was wearing a black wool jacket and a navy blue or black baseball cap.

Two weeks ago, a knife-wielding man stabbed a customer while trying to rob the same Walgreens of prescription drugs.

Anyone with information about Wednesday's robbery is asked to call the Apex Police Department at 919-362-8661 or send an anonymous tip to TIP411 by using keyword APEXPD.
