FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — Police said Friday that they are searching for a Durham man who investigators believe fraudulently obtained musical equipment from a Fayetteville store and donated it to a church.

A man and a woman obtained the equipment from Edwards Music Co., at 524 N. McPherson Church Road, on April 11, and investigators determined that it was later given to Faith Assembly Christian Center in Durham.

Police have identified the man involved as Gary Patterson Jr., 27, whose last known address was on North Duke Street in Durham.

Warrants have been issued for Patterson's arrest, charging him with obtaining property by false pretense, and police said he has three other outstanding fraud warrants from other North Carolina law enforcement agencies.

Anyone with information on Patterson's whereabouts is asked to call the Fayetteville Police Department at 910-433-1856 or Crime Stoppers at 910-483-TIPS (8477).
