Police: Man arrested for sex crimes with child 9 years later

Officers with the Fayetteville Police Department have arrested a 32-year-old man in connection with the sexual offense of a 5-year-old girl that occurred nine years ago.

Eric Garris, of Fayetteville, was arrested and charged with second-degree sexual offense, indecent liberties with a child and disseminate obscenity to a minor. The sexual offense occurred in September 2007.

Garris knew the victim's family at the time of the incident, officials said.

Garris is being held in the Cumberland County Detention Center on a $125,000 secured bond.
