RALEIGH, N.C. — One man died, and his alleged shooter and a Raleigh police officer were injured Friday in a pair of shootings along Millbrook Road in Raleigh.

Police were called first to Carquest Auto Parts at 2635 E. Millbrook Road at about 2 p.m. They found a man in the parking lot, slumped behind the wheel of a white truck. Police later confirmed that man died, but they did not release his identity.

Just before 8:30 p.m., about five miles to the west, police cornered a man they said was responsible for the earlier shooting.

For about an hour, residents and shopkeepers near the intersection of Creedmoor and Millbrook roads were asked to stay inside and lock their doors while police pursued him. One resident told WRAL News he heard a single shot, and saw the build up of force as armed officers converged on the scene.

As they attempted to bring the man into custody, about a half-dozen shots rang out, the witness said.

Both the shooting suspect and a police officer were shot and taken to WakeMed. The officer's injury was not life-threatening, a police spokesman said. The suspect's condition was not available.

Police did not say how they connected the shooting at the Carquest to the suspect, who he is or what might have prompted the violence.
