Police investigate Durham shooting death

Police were investigating a Tuesday afternoon homicide on Hardee Street in Durham.

DURHAM, N.C. — Police were investigating a Tuesday afternoon homicide on Hardee Street in Durham.

Officers were dispatched to a reported shooting in the 600 block of Hardee Street shortly after noon, and they found Orlando Martinez lying in a parking lot with a gunshot wound.

Martinez, 32, of Hardee Street, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators said the shooting apparently occurred during an altercation. No one has been charged in Martinez' death.
