<b>DURHAM, N.C.</b> — Police on Tuesday were investigating the death of a 17-month-old boy on Monday afternoon.

Officers responded to a home on the 4600 block of Hope Valley Road shortly after 3 p.m. Monday and found the boy dead, said Kammie Michael, spokeswoman for the Durham Police Department.

Police are handling the case as a death investigation, pending an autopsy to determine the cause of death, Michael said.
