Police ID wheelchair-bound victim in fatal Henderson hit-and-run

Henderson police on Friday identified the 58-year-old man who was killed in a hit-and-run wreck on U.S. Highway 1 South Wednesday evening.

HENDERSON, N.C. — Henderson police on Friday identified the 58-year-old man who was killed in a hit-and-run wreck on U.S. Highway 1 South Wednesday evening.

Police said Gordon Hargrove was in a wheelchair along U.S. 1 near East Andrews Avenue at about 9 p.m. when he was hit by a passing tractor-trailer.

Police said the tractor-trailer involved left the scene on U.S. 1 South toward Vanco Mill Road. Companies that may have had truck drivers in the area at the time of the incident are encouraged to contact the Henderson Police Department. The North Carolina State Highway Patrol is assisting with the ongoing investigation.
