Police on Friday identified the human remains found beneath a railroad bridge across the Cape Fear River on Wednesday.

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — Police on Friday identified the human remains found beneath a railroad bridge across the Cape Fear River on Wednesday.

Will George Getter Sr., 60, of Melvinville Court, had been missing since July 28, police said.

A passerby reported a body off Broad Street between Person and Russell streets. Police said the remains were found with what appeared to be men’s clothing.

No cause of death has been determined, and the case remains under investigation, police said.
