Police: Funeral home director stole from dead man's insurance policy
A Rocky Mount funeral home director was charged in Enfield Thursday for allegedly forging documents and stealing money from an insurance policy.

Authorities said that Earl Schirra Joyner-Clark, 53, forged documents from a deceased man’s second insurance policy to pocket $8,000 after his first policy satisfied the burial costs.
Enfield police said there are other open cases of a similar nature involving Joyner-Clark and other victims.
Joyner-Clark was arrested at Edgecombe County Court when he was there for an unrelated matter. He was turned over to Enfield police, who charged him with uttering forged endorsement, obtaining property by false pretense and identity theft.
He was issued a $30,000 bond and was scheduled to appear in court on July 20.
