RALEIGH, N.C. — A Raleigh woman remained in jail Wednesday, two days after police said she was drunk and wandered into rush-hour traffic with two children.

Kristin Smith Almalikie, 36, of 5535 Hamstead Crossing, was charged with misdemeanor child abuse, public intoxication, resisting arrest and injury to property. She was being held under a $2,000 bond.

Police said Almalikie tried to cross five lanes of traffic on Duraleigh Road Monday afternoon with a 5-year-old and a 2-year-old. She became combative when officers tried to stop her and damaged a patrol car, police said.
