Investigators believe that Dennis M. Ettson, of Waring Street, got in an argument with the 18-year-old man in the 600 block of Stratton Way late Sunday morning, said police spokeswoman Kammie Michael. She said that Ettson accidentally shot himself in the arm and then shot the victim.

Both men were treated for their injuries and released from a local hospital.

He was placed in the Durham County jail under a $600,000 bond.
