Police charge second teen in Durham shooting; neither in custody

Durham police on Wednesday charged a 17-year-old with attempted murder for a July 7 shooting at a Garrett Road apartment complex.

DURHAM, N.C. — Durham police on Wednesday charged a 17-year-old with attempted murder for a July 7 shooting at a Garrett Road apartment complex.

Victor Daniel Roman-Bello is charged with attempted first-degree murder, three counts of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill and felony conspiracy, according to the Durham Police Department.

Roman-Bello is the second person to be charged in the case: 18-year-old Rudy Perez was previously charged with attempted first-degree murder, three counts of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill and felony conspiracy.

Police are searching for both Roman-Bello and Perez.

The shooting occurred on July 7 in the parking lot of an apartment at 4230 Garrett Road. Two groups of males got into a fight, and an 18-year-old man was shot multiple times.
