Police: Aberdeen pharmacy robbery linked to Thomasville homicides

Lloyd Wayne Franklin, 34, of 2818 S. Main St. Ext. in Denton, is wanted in the deaths of David McSwain, 82, and Joan McSwain, 78, in their Davidson County home. Their bodies were discovered Thursday morning.

Hours later, police said, Franklin used a gun stolen from the couple's home to rob the CVS store at 1550 N. Sandhills Blvd. in Aberdeen.

Security video shows him putting a few items down next to the cash register as if he was going to pay for a purchase and then pull out a gun. Other customers could been seen on the video roaming through the store during the robbery.

“He brandished the weapon with no fear at the pharmacy," said Carl Colasasso, an investigator with the Aberdeen Police Department. "He cocked the weapon, aimed it and pointed it at the clerk, and when he went out the front door, he exited the front the door in a manner where he was still carrying the weapon, possibly to be ready to use once he got on the outside."

Police said Franklin made off with about $3,500 in prescription drugs, including pain-killer oxycodone, and an undisclosed amount of cash. They said he also robbed a CVS in Georgetown, S.C., of drugs and money on Monday.

Jennifer Lanning, 38, is believed to be on the run with Franklin in a dark blue 2006 Chevrolet Town & Country minivan stolen from the McSwains. The van has a North Carolina tag XRX-2142.

Police said the couple should be considered armed and dangerous. Anyone with information about their whereabouts is asked to call the Aberdeen Police Department or the Davidson County Sheriff’s Office.
