Police: 13-year-old shot Rocky Mount teen

Rocky Mount police said Monday that a 13-year-old shot and injured a 16-year-old boy on Saturday.

ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. — Rocky Mount police said Monday that a 13-year-old shot and injured a 16-year-old boy on Saturday.

Shortly after 8 p.m., officers responded to the shooting, at 1236 N. Oakwood Drive, where they found Murray Chamberlain shot once in his left leg.

Murray was treated and released from Nash General Hospital.

Murray told officers he knew who had shot him. Police charged the 13-year-old with assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury.

The juvenile, whose name wasn't released, was placed in the Pitt County Juvenile Detention Center.
