GREENSBORO, N.C. — An 11-year-old girl was killed early Sunday in a two-vehicle crash involving a tractor trailer.

Officers with the Greensboro Police Department responded to a crash on Interstate 40 East near Sandy Ridge Road around 4:45 a.m.

According to officials, an SUV operated by 34-year-old Carlton Bannerman ran off the road following a crash with a tractor trailer driven by 48-year-old Rodney Boyd.

As a result of the crash, the SUV rolled over multiple times. Officials said an 11-year-old passenger in the SUV died after she was ejected from the vehicle.

The crash is under investigation, but officials say impairment was not a contributing factor.
