RALEIGH, N.C. — A longtime plumber for the state of North Carolina has been charged with embezzlement.

Arrest warrants show Adrian Thomas Harris, of 7260 Hunt Valley Trail in Wendell, was arrested Friday on one count of embezzlement of state property.

An arrest warrant alleges that Harris "unlawfully, willfully and feloniously did embezzle and knowing misapply and convert to the defendant's own use" 40 feet of 2-inch copper pipes belonging to the state between Dec. 8 and Dec. 15.

He was in the Wake County jail Sunday morning under a $10,000 bond.

According to arrest documents, Harris worked as a plumber for North Carolina for seven years. They do not indicate where he specifically worked. Also unclear is whether Harris is still an employee for the state.
