Playground Review: Williams Park in Raleigh

It's summer. It's sunny. Your kids need some shade.

Not all of the park's playground is shaded. The swings and sand area get pretty hot. But you will find a covered picnic shelter with restrooms here and a collection of benches under some tall trees right off the playground.

The surface under the play equipment is mulch. Williams has tennis courts and athletic fields. A parking lot sits next to the playground.

Williams Park, a city park, sits next to Lynn Road Elementary School, which has a playground of its own within sight of the city's playground. With its newer and unusual play pieces for grade schoolers, it's a nice alternative once your older kids are done sliding and swinging (when school is not in session). Alas, there's no shade over the school's playground.
