I was driving around Holly Springs with my daughters one day and discovered the newer playground at Jones Park.

The park sits next to Holly Springs Elementary School off Holly Springs Road and features a large play area with sections for younger kids - ages 2 to 5 - and older kids - ages 5 to 12. In between the two play areas is a large tarp that covers several picnic tables. The tables sit on rubber matting, offering a great covered place for young kids to crawl and toddle.

The playground for younger kids features standard play pieces - slides, steps and monkey bars. Across the way, the side for older kids includes an eye-catching feature - two tall "trees" that are designed for climbing up to access the slides. Here, you'll also find play pieces that spin kids around and offer new ways to climb (think climbing net).

Another unusual aspect of the playground: It sits on artificial turf.

There's plenty of parking here. Bathrooms are within easy walking distance. It's at 405 School Days Lane.

Take a closer look at the playground in the quick video tour.

Go Ask Mom features places to take kids every Friday. For more ideas, check our posts on parks and playgrounds and Triangle family destinations.
